ORGANIC OR NATURAL COSMETICS ?
It is not always easy to distinguish between organic and natural cosmetics. In this article, we look at the differences between these two types of products and help you distinguish them from conventional products.

DEFINITION OF A NATURAL COSMETIC
Generally speaking, a natural cosmetic is one that contains at least 95% natural ingredients.
Recognizing a natural cosmetic is not always easy, because there is more and more greenwashing on the shelves. We often see cosmetics claiming to contain more than 95% natural ingredients, while they contain ingredients that consumers no longer want: silicones, BHT, phenoxyethanol ...
To be sure of what you are buying, we advise you to look for the presence of the COSMOS NATURAL logo, which guarantees that the cosmetic has been checked and that it conforms to the definition given above.
More demanding than natural cosmetics, organic cosmetics must rely on ingredients grown according to the rules of organic agriculture.
DEFINITION OF AN ORGANIC COSMETIC
An organic cosmetic is a natural cosmetic, which is also required to have a certain percentage of ingredients from organic farming. In this case, at least 95% of what can be organic must be.
To recognize it, the easiest way is to look for the oval Cosmébio logo.
WATER AND MINERALS
CAN NOT BE BIO
Present in a large number of cosmetics, water cannot be considered as organic, because it is not cultivated, unlike other ingredients such as plant extracts. The same goes for minerals (clays...), which are taken directly from nature.
To be as transparent as possible about what is in your cosmetics, a second percentage is indicated on the products. It indicates the proportion of organic ingredients in relation to the whole product. This percentage is set at 20% minimum.
